Sponsoring Information Sponsoring An Animal
Many wonderful animals are destroyed at the Nelson County Animal Control Facility because they are unclaimed or unwanted, and there is no space to house them at the Nelson County Humane Society (Almost Home). Through foster care we can save hundreds of animals each year, but much work remains to realize Nelson County Humane Society's “no kill” goal for the entire county. At the Nelson County Humane Society, all animals are available for sponsorship. In addition, we have a program where you can sponsor a special needs animal, or an animal that has been in the Humane Society's care for some time. If you chose to sponsor a specific animal, upon request, we will send you a photo of the animal and their information. One-Time Donations For your convenience, the PayPal button below is provided so that you can make a one-time donation to sponsor an animal. When making donations, please specify either "Sponsor Program" or to specify a particular animal..."Sponsor: animal name" in the Description Field located next to the Amount Field. The Humane Society asks for a minimum donation of $15 for one-time donations.

Jake The Hound #14727 - Check Out His Story on His Profile Jake, pictured above, is a very handsome and friendly 4 year old pure bred Bloodhound. Unfortunately Jake suffers from chronic eye infections. He was originally a courtesy posting on our website, but on Feb. 7, 2012, his owner surrendered him to Almost Home. Thanks to a generous anonymous donor who is paying for all Jake’s vet bills, boarding, and surgery, if necessary, Jake just received a complete physical exam to see what can be done about his eyes. He is currently on strong antibiotics and antibiotic eye drops for 7 days, and then the vet will recheck him. We’re hoping for a complete recovery for Jake. Without the help of this generous donor, this would not have been possible. Won't you please help! Joey, Jake our 3-legged friend, Ben, and Hope (pictured above) were some of the dogs from a recent cruelty case in Nelson County. Some animals from cruelty cases reside at Almost Home. And, although very deserving, may never be adopted. Your help is needed so that they can live out the remainder of their life in a healthy and caring environment. UPDATE FEB 2012: All of these dogs have since been adopted except Jake #14014. |
