  • General Color: Black with White
  • Current Size: 35 Pounds
  • Current Age: 2 Years (best estimate)

UPDATE 8/18/21:  At 35 pounds, Babette is strong, can pirouette as nimbly as a ballerina, but is camera shy if you want to click a shot of her in action. Sometimes it takes her a little time to get comfortable with new things, though less so if her sister, Tabbie, is by her side. Together, they both ended up at Animal Control before they came to Almost Home.

Babette appears to be yearning for direction and for a person to notice and care about her. She is learning that a leash means partnership not bondage and is excited when any attention is directed her way.

This girl came in bone-thin but is happily munching meals and treats toward a healthy weight. She has already accomplished SITTING to get a biscuit. Babette seems to be grateful for small things and for little moments of tenderness.

She can be timid at first and is unsure of dogs until she knows them.  When we introduced her to our confined cats, she was very respectful and quickly backed-off when one spit at her.

Her perfect situation would be a home with gentle and understanding folks who would enjoy helping her to find a place of comfort and security.  Active and unsupervised children may be too scary for her.  A securely confined area would be important so she can have a safe place for exercise and fun.

If you think you can help a dog to learn that life can be wonderful, Babette deserves that chance to find out that life isn’t only about struggles.
