UPDATE 10/17/18 (by Sigrid):

Percy, AKA Princess, is waiting for you to bring her home and make her yours. It would be hard to call her anything less than stunning. China-blue eyes shine intelligently from her rich sable coat to make it easy to image she may have Siberian husky and German Shepherd in her history.  She could be called pleasantly plump at 70 pounds.

“She loves laying at our feet all evening and just being close to us. She has been trained to not get on any furniture, unless invited onto the sofa occasionally, after we put her special dog blanket down first,” says former caretakers after reluctantly returning Percy/Princess to us after 4 years. This was a difficult choice for them and only decided when they felt they could not provide the right home for her after she killed a kitten.  She was part of their family and their kids tolerant “snuggle buddy.”  She has even allowed their kids to dress her up in funny clothes. We were told she would do best with kids 9 and up because sometimes she herds smaller kids and she is strong.

This stunning, blue-eyed beauty just can’t hold back her desire to go after any small animals (cats, wild critters, birds, small dogs) with a hunter’s end result in mind. The folks who surrendered her were are unable to keep her safely confined, away from neighbors’ pets, and from running off to a busy road. They let us know that with them, she had good house manners, didn’t jump on quests, was friendly with visitors, drank out of the toilet, loved car rides, was not a foolish barker, slept most of the day, shed a lot in the spring. The family who had her taught her many things—roll over, play dead, spin around, catch tossed food, if put in a down position and told “Leave it,” she would. then when told “Go” she’d get the treat.

This girl is mourning for her lost home and needs someone who will appreciate all of her wonderful qualities but who will also keep her away from harming small animals and from running off for dangerous explorations by herself.

We are reviewing applications from folks who can keep Percy responsibly confined and away from small animals, and who can fulfill her need to be an involved companion with her adopter/adopters https://www.nelsonspca.org/info/adoption
